Police launch manhunt for murder suspects in Tanga, Simiyu, Arusha

TANGA: POLICE in Tanga Region have launched a manhunt in search for a man who fled after allegedly killing his wife and a domestic worker.

After committing the crime, the suspect Alii Bagidadi (60) a resident of Barabara ya 4 in Tanga fled to an unknown location, according to police.

Tanga Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Almachius Mchunguzi said the incident occurred on September 30 this year around 7:00 pm.

ACP Mchunguzi said the deceased are Saira Mohammed (50) and her domestic worker Asha (20) who were strangled by a sisal rope and their eyes were gouged.

He urged the public to assist law enforcers by providing information on Bagidadi’s whereabouts.

The police also advised against taking the law into their own hands.

In a separate case, Simiyu RPC, ACP Edith Swebe said they have detained one suspect in connection to the murder of Nyambo William (44) whose body was found tied to a stone and submerged in water in Busega District.

“The investigation is ongoing as police search for additional suspects” ACP Swebe said.

She said on 30 September this year around 7:00 pm in Ukuriani Township, Ngasamo Village, Busega District, Simiyu Region, the body of Nyambo, a farmer, resident of Ngasamo, was found in a pool of water tied to a stone with a Maasai shuka cloth.

ACP Swebe said the deceased was allegedly killed by his girlfriend in collaboration with his friend and then after carrying out the murder, they threw the body in a pool of water.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation.

In addition, the Police Force continues to search for other suspects who participated in the incident.

The body of the deceased has been preserved at the Busega District Hospital for doctor’s examination.

In Arusha, police are investigating the death of David Mollel, whose body was discovered hanging from a tree on October 1, 2024.

Further inquiries are being made into mysterious messages sent to his relatives prior to his death.

Arusha RPC, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Justine Masejo, said the body of the deceased is preserved at the Mount Arusha Referral Hospital for further investigation.

“We call on citizens to continue cooperating with the police by providing information on crimes and criminals,” he said.

In Iringa, RPC Allan Bukumbi announced the arrest of Vitus Nkuna (29) for causing an accident and spreading false information online.

SACP Bukumbi said, Nkuna, a moneylender from Mwangata area, allegedly caused a car accident on September 30 in Mgongo, Nduli district, when his vehicle with registration number T 797 DYC collided with another vehicle with registration number T 975 EDC owned by the KINGS Company which is operated by Goodliving Moshi (35) a businessman from Mkimigis.

He said after the incident, Nkuna fled the scene, prompting Moshi to pursue him until Nkuna was stopped near the Mtwivila Crossroads.

During the confrontation, Nkuna hit Moshi’s car a second time, leading to an altercation involving people nearby.

“Police arrived at the scene and discovered Nkuna was intoxicated, with an alcohol level of 453.4ML/100MI, he was arrested and taken to Iringa Central Police Station, where he later posted on X, claiming he was attacked by unknown individuals and escorted to the station.” Said SACP Bukumbi

SACP Bukumbi said that the suspect claimed in his post that CHADEMA leaders, led by Frank Nyalusi, the party’s chairperson for Iringa, were with him at the police station.

Following his release on bail by Nyalusi, Nkuna posted another message on X, suggesting he would uncover who was behind his attempted roadside arrest, according to police.

The suspect reported the accident to the station the next day, however, he is still being questioned about the offence of publishing false information online and causing panic.

Police across multiple regions are urging the public to cooperate by reporting crimes and refraining from spreading false information online.
