Police nab 181 youth suspects in Geita

GEITA: POLICE in Geita have arrested 181 youths for allegedly involving themselves in robbery incidents at Katoro and Buseresere area in the region.
Geita Regional Police Commander (RPC), Safia Jongo told journalists recently that the suspects were apprehended during the ongoing police crackdown in the region.
She said the suspects are accused of armed robbery and use of narcotics such and marijuana.

She said a total of 1,800 grams of marijuana was also seized. According to the RPC, the youths engaging in criminal incidents are commonly referred to as ‘zombies’ and have posed danger and fear among members of the community.
“These young people have been involved in various criminal incidents such as raping and stealing people’s properties, Police have already set a strategy to deal with them, including arresting them before bringing them to justice,” she noted.
