President Samia explains why TRA managed to collect 27.67tri/-

ZANZIBAR: President Samia Suluhu Hassan has said that good governance and conducive business environment are among several factors that have enabled the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) to increase collections to 27.67 trillion shillings in this financial year.

In the last fiscal year, 2023/24, the taxman collected 24.1 trillion shillings.

President Samia made the statement during the Islamic Women’s Conference held in Zanzibar on Friday as she thanked citizens for helping the state reach this milestone.

“We are growing little by little, and you can see that development projects and community services are being implemented to a large extent, which would not be possible otherwise,” she noted.

Moreover, President Samia stated that as the government makes progress in tax collection, Tanzania will reduce its reliance on borrowing funds from abroad
