President Samia Inspects Mpanda Airport Project

KATAVI: President Samia Suluhu inspected the Mpanda Airport renovation project on Friday as she began a seven-day tour in the Rukwa and Katavi regions.

The airport is undergoing its third phase of renovation since its inception in 1954.

During the inspection, the Head of State commended the Director General of the Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA), Mr. Mussa Mbura, for his effective oversight and management of the project.

Speaking about the facility, Mr. Mbura mentioned that it was first renovated in 2008. The second phase was executed from 2012 to 2023, costing approximately 1.6 billion TZS.

He attributed the increased tourism activities in Mpanda Park and local business developments as driving forces for the expansion of the facility.

President Samia is expected to inaugurate various development projects before addressing the wananchi in Katavi.
