Premier suspends Kilolo DC engineer

IRINGA: Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa suspended Kilolo District Council engineer to pave the way for a thorough investigation on alleged mismanagement of public funds.

The Premier issued the directive on Monday while laying the foundation stone for the construction of Lugalo Girls’ Secondary School.

That came after being dismayed by the status of the project, particularly the incomplete construction of its dining hall.

The dining hall was budgeted at 774m/-, of which 341m/- has been spent yet the construction remains incomplete.

He also ordered the former Director of the Council, who retired in April this year, be summoned and questioned regarding the project.

Prime Minister Majaliwa is in Iringa Region for a four-day working visit, during which he continues to inspect various development projects and engage with the local community.
