Prof. Muhongo leads voter mobilization efforts in Musoma rural constituency

MUSOMA, MARA: MUSOMA Rural Member of Parliament (MP) Professor Sospeter Muhongo said yesterday that the number of people who are appearing to register for local government election is satifying.
Prof Muhongo said more than 1850 people had already registered for local government election in his constituency as of Friday.
Prof Muhongo who also registered on Friday at Bwai Kwitururu village, immediately after the registration exercise was launched by President Samia Suluhu Hassan in Dodoma said the exercise is going on well in his area and asked more residents to appear for registration.
“We are doing everything in our capacity to mobilize citizens top appear for registration ahead of November 27 local government election,” he said.
Prof Muhongo said he has been visiting hamlets in Musoma Rural constituency in efforts to reminding all eligible citizens to get registered.
On Friday, President Samia led Tanzanians in a 10-day exercise to register for the much-awaited 2024 Local Government Election scheduled to take place on November 27 this year.
The Head of State registered at her Chamwino village office just outside the main gate of the Chamwino State House in the country’s capital, where she asked all eligible Tanzanians to follow the suit.
Speaking after being listed in the register, Dr Samia asked Tanzanians to utilize the given period to exercise their democratic right by ensuring that they register as well as participate in the election.

She said the ongoing exercise was of unique importance because the leaders to be elected will help in issues of security and peace at the local levels, adding that social services ought to begin at the local leadership levels.
