RESHUFFLE: Prof Kabudi, Lukuvi in, Ummy Mwalimu out

DAR ES SALAAM: President Samia Suluhu Hassan has made a minor reshuffle in her cabinet and key offices, according to a State House press statement issued on Wednesday.

The Head of State has named Prof Palamagamba Kabudi as the Minister for Justice and Legal Affairs, taking over from Dr Pindi Chana, who has been transferred to the Ministry of Tourism and Natural Resources.

In the fifth phase of government, Prof Kabudi served in the same docket.

Dr Chana, according to the Chief Secretary Dr Mosses Kusiluka’s statement, replaces Ms Angellah Kairuki, who has been named an advisor to the President.

Former Cabinet Minister Mr William Lukuvi has been appointed as the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament, and Coordination).

The experienced politician Lukuvi fills the void left by Jenista Mhagama in the docket.

Meanwhile, President Samia has appointed Jenista Mhagama as the new Minister for Health. She replaces Ummy Mwalimu, who has served in the docket for a couple of years.

Additionally, the Head of State has appointed Hamza Johari as the new Attorney General (AG).

Mr Hamza takes over from Dr Eliezer Feleshi, who has been appointed as a Judge of the Court of Appeal.

Prior to his new role, Johari was the Director General at the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCCA).

Dr Kusiluka added in his statement that the President has also appointed Samweli Maneno as the Deputy Attorney General.

Prior to his new role, Maneno was an advisor to the President (Legal).

Dr Ally Possi has been named as the Solicitor General.

Prior to his new role, Dr Possi was serving as the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport.

Apart from the cabinet reshuffle and appointments made by President Samia in key public offices, she has also appointed new regional administrative secretaries and deputy permanent secretaries.

Others, including deputy secretaries and district commissioners (DCs), have been shifted to other dockets and districts, respectively.
