Samia congratulates Mexico’s first female President-elect

SEOUL, South Korea: President Samia Suluhu Hassan has joined other global leaders to congratulate the newly President-elect of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum.
Sending her message on behalf of Tanzanians, President Samia commented on Claudia’s victory as an historic one.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of the United Republic of Tanzania, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Her Excellency Claudia Sheinbaum, President-elect of Mexico, on your historic victory in the 2024 Mexican general election. Madam President-elect, you have my best wishes,” the President stated on her X account on Tuesday.
The projected presidential winner of Mexico becomes the first female president in the country’s 200-year history.

Claudia, the favoured successor of outgoing President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, vowed to continue on the direction set by the populist leftist leader.
“I promise that I am not going to let you down,” the President-elect said.
The National Electoral Institute’s president said Claudia had between 58.3% and 60.7% of the vote, while opposition candidate Xóchitl Gálvez had between 26.6% and 28.6% and Jorge Álvarez Máynez had between 9.9% and 10.8% of the vote.
Sheinbaum’s Morena party was also projected to hold its majorities in both chambers of Congress.
