Sigh of relief as district gets new medical equipment

RESIDENTS of Ketumbeine village in Longido District are set to benefit from improved healthcare following a donation of examination beds and caesarian section kits, courtesy of NCBA Tanzania.
Speaking here at the weekend, NCBA’s Managing Director, Claver Serumaga said the financial institutor was dedicated to improving people’s lives in the communities they were living in.
“I’m confident that these donations will make a real difference in the lives of our dearly mothers,” he said.
According to Mr Serumaga, the donation will also spare expectant mothers the trouble of walking long distance, as far as Longido town in search of delivery services.
Mr Serumaga equally recognised and paid tribute to the staff at the health facility for working tirelessly in creating a safe and nurturing environment of mothers in need.
Receiving the over 3m/- worth of donation, Longido District Medical Officer, Dr Suleiman Mtechenjela thanked NCBA for the timely support, saying it will improve maternal health care in the area.
According to Dr Mtechenjela, before NCBA’s support, pregnant women had to walk more than 60 kilometres to Longido town, in pursuit of such services.
“We believe putting mother and child health first is a duty to us all as it influences so much especially to rural communities where women play a big role in taking care of families,” the DMO explained.
Meanwhile, NCBA is mulling over plans of refurbishing its mobile platform with a view of improving digital banking services.
Speaking with the bank’s stakeholders on Saturday evening, Mr Serumaga hinted that such a service will come with a lot of benefits to its customers.
“You’ll now be able to engage your customers across the EAC,” he said.
