Simba approach game cautiously

DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA SC Head Coach, Fadlu Davids, has emphasised the need for a cautious yet assertive approach ahead of the crucial CAF Confederation Cup match against Al Ahly Tripoli at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam today.

Davids stated: “We have to make sure that we play with caution and at the same time not to allow them to score an away goal, because for each goal they score we will be compelled to score twice.”

Reflecting on the previous away match in Libya that ended goalless, Davids noted that while their first objective was to maintain a clean sheet—an achievement they secured—the team fell short of scoring an away goal.

With the stakes high, the trainer called for unwavering support from Simba fans, acknowledging the unpredictability of football.

“Even in tough times, they should be with us because in football, you do not only expect good times. Their support is demanded all the time.”

The coach recognised the ambitions of the Simba family, saying: “I know it is the wish of every Simba family to see their team going through to the group stage of this competition, and the only way to achieve that is to win on Sunday (today).”

Highlighting the squad’s quality, Davids expressed confidence in his players’ ability to perform under pressure.

“We have a task to do as a team and the good thing is that we have a quality squad whose players are aware of what they should do to move further in this competition,” he noted.
