Simba in squad bolster bid as Okrah exit

AFTER releasing Ghanaian player Augustine Okrah, Simba SC have announced a major squad improvement to make the team more competitive in the upcoming domestic and international competitions.

The Msimbazi Street Reds announced Okrah’s exit yesterday through their Instagram handle. Okrah served Simba for just a season.

Shortly after the club broke the news, Okrah thanked the club through his Instagram handle: “Our professional lives are filled with people who come and go, people we remember and those who fade.

“As I move on from here, I hold each of you in memory, grateful for all the time we spent together; I miss you all; thank you for all you have given me. May our careers bring us together again.

“Thank you, Simba, thank you, Simba supporters, my fans, and thank you, Tanzania.”

He has since become the first player Simba has parted ways with just two games before the end of the season. His playing time was interrupted due to frequent injuries, which kept him off the pitch in many games.

“Of course, our target is to improve the existing squad to make it more competitive.

To achieve the goal, we need to sign new players while some will depart,” noted the club’s Media and Communication Manager, Ahmed Ally.

He also reiterated that having a good team will empower them to do well in the approaching CAF Super Cup.

Okrah’s best moment at Simba was scoring the opener against Young Africans in the first round of the season’s Premier League at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

He received a superb pass from Clatous Chama that broke through Yanga’s defence line before striking into the back of the net, beating goalkeeper Djigui Diarra.

Meanwhile, Simba welcome Polisi Tanzania at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam for their 29th Premier League fixture of the season.

A defeat to Polisi Tanzania will officially see them relegated to the Championship League next season, joining Ruvu Shooting, who became the first side dropped from the top-flight league.
