Simba Queens kickoff new season against Mlandizi Queens

DAR ES SALAAM: THE 2024/25 Tanzania Women Premier League (TWPL) season officially begins today, with defending champions, Simba Queens, launching their title defense against Mlandizi Queens in Dar es Salaam.
This season features 10 teams competing from various regions, including Mara, Mwanza, Dodoma, Iringa and Dar es Salaam, with matches scheduled to unfold over the next eight months, culminating in mid-2025.
In the opening matches, Simba Queens will take on Mlandizi Queens at the Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) grounds. Meanwhile, Mashujaa Queens will face Gets Programme at the Major General Isamuhyo grounds.
In Dodoma, Fountain Gate Princess will host Ceasiaa Queens from Iringa at Jamhuri Stadium, while Bunda Queens will battle Yanga Princess from Dar es Salaam at Karume Stadium in Musoma.
The league will consist of 18 rounds and is expected to conclude in May 2025. Notably, this season sees the return of two teams, Mlandizi Queens and Get from the Coast and Dodoma regions respectively.
Mlandizi Queens previously participated in the league but was relegated due to poor performance and this season they are now making a comeback.
Before today’s new season kick off, four teams that excelled in last season’s league Simba Queens, JKT Queens, Yanga Princess and Ceasiaa Queens respectively competed in the league curtain raiser, Community Shield matches whereby JKT Queens claimed the title after defeating Yanga Princess 1-0 in the final.
