Stars in crucial DRC game

DRC: IN a highly anticipated encounter, Tanzania national team -Taifa Stars will take on the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) today at Martyrs Stadium in Kinshasa, battling for a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), to be staged in Morocco.
Stars’ Interim Head Coach, Hemed Suleiman, expressed optimism ahead of the match, trusting his squad’s potential to secure a positive outcome against the formidable Congolese side. “Preparation has gone well. From the first day of camp, the players have shown tremendous effort and quickly adapted to our system.
“Despite the limited time, the team has displayed a strong desire to perform well in today’s match,” Suleiman stated.
The stakes are high for Taifa Stars, who are aiming for their fourth AFCON finals qualification. Their campaign is strategically poised, with three of their remaining four qualifying matches set to be played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Tanzania currently sits in a second place in Group H, with four points after a win and a draw. Group leaders DRC have accumulated six points from two victories, while Ethiopia, with just a point and Guinea, still without a point, round out the group standings.
A victory against DRC could put Taifa Stars in a strong position to qualify, increasing the significance of today’s encounter.

Suleiman called for national unity, urging Tanzanians to rally behind their team. “I would love to see all Tanzanians supporting us in this crucial match. As a team, we will do everything we can to bring home a positive result,” Suleiman declared.
