SUMA JKT, Manyara Polisi win openers

THE Netball First Division League started yesterday with SUMA JKT and Manyara Polisi winning their opening games against Singida Polisi and Njombe, respectively, at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha.

SUMA JKT defeated Singida Polisi 45-30, while Manyara Polisi won by a 45-42 margin against Njombe.

The league, featuring 16 teams, will run until August 10th at the same venue.

Participating teams include Magereza, Uhamiaji, TAMISEMI, Jeshi Stars, Mbweni JKT, Bandari, Eagle Queen, Mbeya UWASA, SUMA JKT, Mapinduzi, Katavi, Arusha Police, Njombe and Manyara Police.

In an interview with the ‘Daily News’ yesterday, the Netball Association of Tanzania (CHANETA) chairperson, Devotha Marwa, confirmed that all 16 teams had arrived and confirmed their participation.

Marwa expressed her satisfaction, saying, “It is great to see all 16 teams safely in Arusha for the top netball league.

Initially, 13 teams had confirmed their participation, but yesterday, a few others, including Arusha Polisi, Singida Polisi and Manyara Polisi, confirmed their participation, which is indeed a success to have such a number of teams ready to compete for the top honour.”
