Tabora United stun Pamba in PL match

TABORA: TABORA United picked their third win of the season after stamping a 1-0 triumph over Pamba Jiji at Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora on Wednesday.

The success drove them to seventh place on the log courtesy of 11 points from nine games as they slowly climb up the league ladder.

Ogochukwu Morice made the difference in the 77th minute of the game through a penalty to enable his side walk away with essential points from home, turf as efforts by the visitors to make the most of the match were unsuccessful.

On the other hand, Pamba Jiji winless run of the season continues as they are the only league team yet to taste victory from 9 played league games.

They remain 15th on the league log after six draws and three defeats in the process, not a good ride for the Mwanza based outfits. Meanwhile, Coastal Union yesterday named a veteran coach, Juma Mwambusi as the team’s new head coach who has replaced David Ouma.

He was introduced through Coastal Union’s Instagram account where they described as an experienced trainer who is capable to guide them to the top four finish on the table.

“Now, our mission of ending the season in one of the top four slots on the table will be accomplished by 100 per cent…his standard of coaching is well known in the country and he deserve to be at a big club like ours,” reads part of the information.

His first league assignment of the campaign will be against defending champions Young Africans at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha on Saturday.

Mwambusi who is well known in the country’s football circles returns at the technical bench after spending some time without practicing his coaching career.

He made his fame at Mbeya City before joining Yanga and later, he coached several Premier League teams, including Ihefu. So far, the Tanga based side have generated 8 points from 8 league games after producing two wins, two draws and have succumbed to four defeats in the process.

Last season, they completed the league marathon on fourth place which earned him a ticket to feature in the CAF Confederation Cup (CAF CC) but were eliminated in the first preliminary round.
