TanTrade: 27 Indian firms to participate in DITF

Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) has said India confirmed that some 27 companies will take part in this year’s 47th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) late this month.
The companies will be represented by a delegation of 50 people who will also host an India Day during the DITF—Sabasaba fair.
TanTrade Acting Director of Trade Promotion Mr Fortunatus Mhambe told the ‘Daily News’ over the weekend that the Indian participants also requested to host the Indian Day on the first day of July.
“We have agreed, it will add colour to the Sabasaba, the biggest fair in the country,” said Mr Mhambe.
India has come to show various products including pharmaceuticals, cotton, avocado and leather.
Additionally, TanTrade said Algeria confirmed four companies will take part in the DITF exhibition.
Mr Mhambe said other countries confirmed to participate are Rwanda, Ghana, Kenya, Iran, Türkiye, the United Arabs Emirates (UAE), Pakistan and Syria plus China, South Korea, Singapore, Japan and Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) Senior Investment Officer Ms Latiffa Kigoda said they have talked with Indian companies and persuaded them to invest in the country instead of coming like traders.
“TIC is talking with these Indian traders to invest in the country. Our target is to change their mindset from traders to investors,” she said.
The Indian companies and showed interest in the area of cotton, leather, pharmaceuticals, avocado and hemp.
Ms Kigoda said TIC already sent Quick Response (QR) code to enable them to obtain preliminary information on how to invest in Tanzania.
