TCU opens application window for new academic year

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Universities Commission (TCU) yesterday announced the official opening of the window for admission of undergraduate students for the 2024/2025 year.

During a press briefing held in Dar es Salaam at Commission’s headquarters, Executive Secretary of the TCU, Professor Charles Kihampa said the window was opened yesterday (15th July) and will remain open until 10th August this year.

He said for this academic year, registration of the students will be conducted in three phases, whereby the first phase will involve students who have all the Form Six qualifications, the second phase will involve students with Ordinary Diploma or it’s equivalent, and the third phase will involve students with Foundation Certificate from the Open University.

“For the three groups to understand the qualification of joining, applicants are supposed to read about the requirements from Bachelor’s Degree Admission Guidebooks for 2024/2025 Academic Year which can be accessed through the TCU website www.tcu.go.tz., “ said Prof Kihampa.

He said interested applicants can send their applications directly to the higher learning institutions of their choices, where they will receive relevant information on the process of joining and the qualification of the applicants. “

“Applicants for admission should avoid being conned by fraudsters, who call themselves agents, who claim to provide services on how to join higher education institutions in the country, because we have agents for institutions abroad, but not within the country, there are no agents or brokers,” he stated.

He said applicants who have certificates which were issued by foreign examination boards should present them to the National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA) for secondary education certificates and to NACTVET for Diplomas so that they can be verified and given it’s equivalence.
