Temeke Anti-Corruption Bureau uncovers Major Irregularities in development projects

DAR ES SALAAM: In a comprehensive report, the head of Anti- Corruption Bureau (PCCB) in Temeke Mr Holle Makungu , disclosed that the Bureau scrutinized projects worth a total of 28bn/- over a three-month period.
He said the inspection covered six projects in Temeke Municipality valued at 27bn/- and four projects in Kigamboni Municipality worth1bn/-.
Speaking to the press on Friday, Makungu highlighted that the bureau also identified seven corruption-instances of corruption within the systems.
He mentioned that three workshop were conducted to establish resolutions to address loopholes, adding that the PCCB committed to follow up on the implementation from July to September 2024.
He also reported that the bureau received 24 corruption-related complaints during this period, all of which are currently under investigation.
Additionally, the PCCB discovered a permanent building constructed illegally within a road reserve area in Mbagala.

He mentioned that the Dar es Salaam Rapid Transit Agency (DART) had entered into an unauthorized agreement with Sahara Africa Beauty Company Ltd. to construct a sixty-room building without the necessary approval from the Temeke Municipal Director.
“We are finalizing our investigation to ensure that all responsible parties are brought to justice in accordance with the constitution,” Makungu asserted.
In addition to these efforts, the PCCB has intensified its anti-corruption education campaigns, targeting colleges, schools, and the general public through meetings and media outreach.
He said this proactive approach aims to foster a culture of transparency and accountability within the community.
