“TPLB opens Z’bar Stadiums for Premier League matches in 2024/25 Season”

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) have granted Premier League teams’ permission to use stadiums in Zanzibar as their home grounds for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

TPLB Chief Executive Officer, Almasi Kasongo unveiled yesterday in Dar es Salaam that any Premier League team can request to designate a Zanzibar stadium as their home ground for the coming league season campaign.

“We have recently, received a request from one team to use a stadium in Zanzibar as their home ground so we welcome other teams which may like to play their league games in isles,” Kasongo said.

In another development, the CEO revealed that for the new 2024/25 league season, some new regulations have been set, stating that no stadium will be allowed to host league matches without having a seating capacity of at least 3,000.

Additionally, all Premier League teams must include two players from the youth team in their match roster and the coach will decide whether to field them or not, but they must be included on the list.

He unveiled that the aim of such regulation is to promote and develop youth football in the country as well grooming talents.

Apart from Kasongo revealed that the board is expecting to release the 2024/25 league fixture schedule as soon as possible.

He further said that the league’s full calendar which will be published soon has thoroughly considered every crucial issue however we welcome any advice to enhance the league, aiming to position the country’s Premier League among the best in Africa.

“We have ensured that our new calendar addresses all important aspects and will be highly effective,” he said.

Meanwhile the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) president Wallace Karia has unveiled plans of the federation to introduce a new award in the annual TFF Awards to recognise media house that demonstrate fairness and equity in their football reporting.

“We are planning to establish an award for media houses that showcase fairness and equity in football-related stories,” he explained.

Karia disclosed that yesterday in Dar es Salaam during a one-day seminar for journalists that aims to provide insight into various laws governing football ahead of the new league season.
