TRITA trains officials from over 300 institutions on immigration issues

MOSHI: THE Immigration Department, through the Tanzania Regional Immigration Training Institute (TRITA), has trained more than 300 government and private institutions on immigration procedures since its establishment.
This announcement was made recently by Commissioner for Training and Development with the Immigration Department, Amiru Sadik during the opening of the Essentials of Migration Management Training in Moshi, Kilimanjaro Region.
“This training is designed to enhance the practical capacity of immigration department employees and other stakeholders on both national and international immigration issues,” Sadik said.

“It aims to equip them to better handle the challenges of illegal immigration in the country.”
Representing Commissioner General of Immigration (CGI) Dr Anna Makakala, Commissioner Sadik added that the training also targets officers and potential recruits to the immigration department.
“The goal is to improve the quality of immigration services, including ensuring that service requests are handled accurately,” he noted.
Participants will gain essential knowledge on providing immigration services, which will help them assist foreigners and understand the procedures immigrants must follow while in the country.
Assistant Commissioner for Immigration and TRITA Principal, Hoja Mahiba, highlighted that since TRITA’s inception in 2007, the institute has primarily trained Regional Immigration officers.
“However, with increasing needs related to immigration, particularly in areas involving foreign investors, we have expanded our training scope to include private institutions engaged in immigration-related duties,” she said.
During the five-day training, participants included those involved in serving tourists, advising foreign investors and working with institutions that employ or enroll students from abroad.
“This is the 23rd phase of the Essentials of Migration Management Training programme since 2019. One notable achievement has been the strengthened cooperation between the immigration department and other stakeholders in acquiring information on foreigners entering and leaving the country,” Mahiba added.
Mr Goda Jeremiah, a participant from Gats Solutions, a consultancy firm advising foreign investors, remarked that the training will enhance their understanding of how to better serve investors coming into the country.
