TTCL becomes runner-up at DITF

DAR ES SALAAM: The Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation (TTCL) has emerged as the second-place winner in the Telecommunications Sector category at the 48th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) as the firm aspires to offer innovative and high-quality services.

The telecom is currently works on its strategy to digitize the economy to people from all walks of life.

The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council of Zanzibar, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, visited the TTCL pavilion and was impressed by the significant strides the corporation has made in improving the country’s communication infrastructure.

Among the notable achievements showcased to visitors of TTCL pavilion was the project to connect Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, to a high-speed internet network.

“This historic project has placed Mount Kilimanjaro on the global map as a digital tourism attraction for tourists from across the globe who can now climb the mountain ‘live’ via live video streaming. This innovation has boosted the mountain’s appeal and made it an international attraction,” said the acting Managing Director of TTCL, Mr Cecil Francis.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the trade fair, Mr Francis added that this victory is a testament to the corporation’s commitment to serving Tanzanians and fostering the digital economy.

“We will continue to invest in modern technologies to ensure that all Tanzanians have access to high-quality communication services,” said Mr. Francis.

Aligned with this year’s fair theme: ‘Tanzania is the Right Place for Business and Investment,’ TTCL has demonstrated how it is using technology to strengthen the tourism sector and attract investors.

The investment in the communication infrastructure of Mount Kilimanjaro is a prime example of how TTCL is collaborating with the government to boost the country’s economy.

Mr Francis added that DITF has been a crucial platform for the private and public sectors to showcase their products and services.

“By winning an award and showcasing the unique Mount Kilimanjaro project, TTCL has positioned itself to lead the telecommunications sector in Tanzania in the coming years,” he said.
