UDP chair commends Kigongo-Busisi Bridge project

MWANZA: VETERAN politician and UDP Chairperson Mr. John Cheyo  recently visited the Kigongo-Busisi Bridge project and praised the government’s effective use of taxpayer funds.

The 716.33 billion/- project is nearing completion, with an expected finish in December this year.

Mr. Cheyo highlighted the bridge’s importance in enhancing connectivity between Tanzania and East African countries, noting its positive impact on Mwanza’s role as a commercial hub.

He also pointed out that this success could influence President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s standing in the upcoming general elections.

Engineer Devotha Kafuku from the Tanzania National Roads Agency (Tanroads) provided details about the 3.2-kilometer bridge, which features four road lanes, a pedestrian pathway, and an emergency lane.

Despite delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the project is now 90.5% complete.
