Ummy Mwalimu hands over office to newly appointed Health Minister Mhagama

- DODOMA: Former Health Minister Ummy Mwalimu has officially handed over the office to Jenista Mhagama.
Ms Jenista was recently named the new docket’s boss to fill the vacuum left by Ummy Mwalimu.
Speaking during the handover event held on Friday at the Ministry’s headquarters in Dodoma on Friday, Minister Mhagama commended Ummy Mwalimu for her leadership within 14 years in the sector.
“Your leadership has been instrumental in advancing the health sector to where it stands today. We will continue to build on this foundation and collaborate closely to achieve even greater progress,” she stated.
The transition comes after Minister Mhagama sworn in by President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Thursday, marking a significant reshuffle in the government’s administration.
The outgoing minister, Ummy congratulated her successor Jenista Mhagama for being trusted and appointed by President Samia Suluhu Hassan to oversee the docket.
On her Instagram page, Ummy Mwalimu expressed her deep appreciation to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for entrusting her with significant responsibilities throughout her career.
“With great honor and humility, I extend my heartfelt thanks to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for trusting me with the opportunity to serve in her government.
Ummy has hold various posts in the government as follow; Minister of State in the President’s Office Regional Administration and Local Government (March 2021 – January 2022), and Minister of Health (January 2022 – August 14, 2024).
“I will always cherish this trust and the honor bestowed upon me,” she wrote.
Ummy Mwalimu has served in various ministries as a Minister and Deputy Minister from 2010 to 2024.
