USM Alger vs Yanga: First-ever CAFCC champs. First-ever finalist

Young Africans ‘Yanga’ missed out an opportunity to clinch the CAF Confederation Cup title on Saturday night but to the Tanzania’s giants, this historic achievement cannot be easily forgotten.
They surrendered the tittle Algerian side USM Alger who have been declared new champions, courtesy of away goal rule.
The duo have recorded a 2-2 aggregate score after the two-legged final matches which has gone in favour of the Algerian side who stamped a 2-1 success in the first leg encounter at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
In the return leg clash at Stade du 5 Juillet in Algeria on Saturday night, the country’s envoys have cherished a 1-0 win, not enough to see them claiming the silverware.
Djuma Shabani netted from a spot kick in the 5th minute to put his side upfront as they dominated the play.
In the 56th minute, the hosting side were awarded a penalty which was smartly saved by Yanga goalkeeper Djigui Diarra.
As such, USM Algers have bagged the confederation cup trophy for the first time in club’s history.
Goalie Diarra bagged the Total Energies Man of the Match award, thanks to his superb performance during the game.
