VP assures citizens of quality health services

VICE-PRESIDENT Philip Mpango has reiterated the government’s commitment in bringing quality healthcare to people’s doorsteps.

Inaugurating Karatu District Hospital here on Tuesday, Dr Mpango said the government continues to strive to ensure that Tanzanians receive quality health care which entails access to the provision of promotive, preventive, curative, palliative and rehabilitative services wherever they may be.

“Our mission is to see drugs and other medical supplies are made available at all times,” said the VP, shortly after inaugurating the 3.37bn/- medical facility.

On the other hand, Dr Mpango instructed the management of the district hospital to oversee and manage, with utmost honesty, the distribution of drugs and other medical supplies that are provided for by the government.

He was quick to issue a stern warning to dishonest health workers, who would sabotage and jeopardise the exercise.

“Anyone attempting to go against laid down procedures will face the music,” he warned.

The inauguration of the medical facility comes in handy, as it will also provide health services to tourists who use Karatu town as the main gateway to some tourist attractions including Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Serengeti National Park.

With that in mind, Dr Mpango urged Karatu residents to put the district hospital to good use.

Likewise, the Vice-President appealed to doctors and health workers at the hospital to treat their clients with empathy and love, further assuring them that the government will continue they are supplied with all the necessary equipment while discharging their duties.

Meanwhile, Dr Mpango used his work tour in Karatu to inaugurate Ngorongoro O’ldeani Mountain Lodge, a five-star hotel owned by a compendium of luxury Hotels, Lodges, Camps and Resorts, but owned by Tanzanians.

Dr Mpango commended the investors for complementing the government’s efforts of onto only bolstering the 2 billion US dollars a-year-sector but also for creating employment opportunities for Tanzanians.

The 12bn/- worth of investment is situated on a picturesque hill with spectacular views onto Oldeani Mountain and the Ngorongoro Crater Rim.

It is elevated with 360-degree views that extend all the way to Lake Eyasi and Lake Manyara.

The property is set on 40 acres of pristine lush green gardens and local vegetation with over 130 species of birds.
