Yanga bolster unbeaten run

ARUSHA: YOUNG Africans have extended their unbeaten streak to seven games with a narrow 1-0 win over Coastal Union at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium, Arusha.

The Jangwani-based club remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season, along with Singida Black Stars.

Jean Baleke scored the game-winning goal in the 25th minute to secure Yanga’s triumph. Baleke banked the goal through Coastal Union’s defence which failed to clear a corner set piece placed by Max Nzengeli,

Coastal Union were not weak; on the contrary, they were strong, but were unlucky in their many endeavours. They had an opportunity to score in the ninth minute when Maulid Maabad’s header was blocked by woodwork.

With 21 points, Yanga are now only one point behind leaders Singida Black Stars, who have 22 points after eight games, so the Jangwani lads occupy the second place in the league rankings. On the other hand, Coastal Union have only eight points and are in 11th position.
