Yanga hail Samia support

DAR ES SALAAM: IT was another beautiful day in the commercial city of Dar es Salaam yesterday as Premier League champions Young Africans paraded their 30th league title.
Thousands of Yanga fans participated in the parade which involved an open-roof bus travelling slowly from Benjamin Mkapa Stadium to the club’s headquarters at Jangwani Street in Kariakoo.
Players and management of the club were aboard the open-roof bus, celebrating the championship with their supporters who lined the roads that the parade passed through.
For Yanga, it was their third league title in a row, unlike the past two seasons when they were crowned champions outside Dar es Salaam.
The club’s president, Hersi Said, hailed President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her efforts to raise national football standards.
“It is a prestige to have a president who is eager to see development in sports. Just recently, we attended the budget tabling session for the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports and witnessed a lot of money being allocated to spur growth in this sector.

We simply thank her a lot for the massive investment she is making to promote sports, and we will be pleased to present this trophy to her,” he said.
Hersi reiterated that this is not over yet as they have another opportunity to seal a brace of titles when they face Azam in the CRDB Bank Federation Cup final at Amaan Sports Complex in Zanzibar on June 2nd.
“Of course, we are all thrilled to grab this title. We worked hard to reach this far. Congratulations to all those who were involved in making this a reality. Hopefully, we will be able to retain it next season,” he said.
When the parade arrived at Msimbazi Street, home to their traditional rivals Simba, the number of fans tripled as the trophy was being raised high towards some Simba fans who watched the procession from the club’s building.
Things heated up when the parade arrived at Yanga’s home as hundreds of people had already arrived to be part of the big historic day.
While there, players were introduced, including the team’s technical panel, before witnessing a show from Bongo Flavor artist Rajabu Kahali ‘Harmonize’ who climaxed the celebrations.
On his part, Coach Miguel Gamondi also expressed his satisfaction for managing to win the league silverware in his first spell at the club.
