Yanga Princess, JKT Queens battle for Community Shield glory

DAR ES SALAAM: YANGA Princess will face JKT Queens in the Community Shield final today at KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam. As the final neared, both coaches posed a question as to who would collect the first women’s silverware.

In the pre-match press conference, Yanga Princess Coach, Edna Lema, said her team had prepared a different approach than they used in their match against Simba Queens.

“Usually, in a final game, you come up with a different tactical approach in comparison with the ones you applied in previous games…as such, we are going to play differently from we did against Simba Queens. “It will be a difficult match because JKT Queens are also a strong side with quality players but we have had nice preparations and let the best team win tomorrow (today),” she said.

On his part, JKT Queens Assistant Coach, Azish Kondo, also remarked that they have done their homework well and are ready for the showdown.

“We are aware that it will be a difficult game because Yanga Princess have signed several new players in their squad but that does not threaten us at all, since we also have a good team. “Our mission is to win the community shield trophy and this is what we will be battling for…I believe that with the preparations we had prior to this game, we are going to do well,” he said.

Last season in the Women’s Premier League, JKT Tanzania won both games against Yanga Princess, courtesy of 2-0 and 3-1 triumphs to grab maximum six points from them.

It is therefore a hidden clue as to which side will walk away with the Community Shield silverware as both teams have quality players capable to register tangible result for their side.

However, before the finale, Simba Queens and Ceassia Queens are set to scramble for the thirdplace finish in an early kick-off at the same venue.
