Yanga target to finish off USM Alger in Dar

YOUNG Africans President Hersi Said has indicated that they ought to record a convincing home victory against USM Alger to simplify the reverse leg match in Algiers on June 3rd in Algeria.
The two teams meet at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam this Sunday for the first leg match of the CAF Confederation Cup final, with both sides keen to grab the silverware.
Neither of them has ever won an interclub title; hence this is a golden chance for both of them to put their hands on it and make a new history that will stand forever.
“Our focus now is fully concentrated on the upcoming Confederation Cup match against USM Alger, of which we need to produce a convincing win to lessen the second leg duel in Algeria.
“Just like the way we did against Marumo Gallants by stamping a good home win which helped us a lot to simplify the return leg match in South Africa,” Hersi said.
He also used the platform to invite football fans nationwide to fill the arena in big numbers and be part of the history-making adventure.
On his part, the team’s top scorer Fiston Mayele highlighted that this is a perfect moment for him and his DR Congo teammates to win the CAF championship.
“We narrowly missed it while playing at AS Vita, and this is another opportunity to win the title in Tanzania. It will be a historic achievement for all Tanzanians,” Mayele said.
Mayele, alongside Marumo Gallant’s striker Ranga Chvaviro are the current top scorers in the competition with six goals apiece; hence Mayele is better placed to clinch the golden boot at the end of the contest.
“I am happy to be one of the top scorers in the Confederation Cup because previously, I only managed to score three or four goals and had never netted six goals; I am grateful for my achievement this season,” Mayele said.
He also pledged to score in the upcoming two-legged final encounters if he gets a chance while admitting that it has been a good season for him in domestic and international competitions.
He is therefore searching for a brace of golden boot awards of the campaign as he is too close to clinching the Premier League’s top scorer prize as he lately enjoys 16 goals to his name with two matches to spare.
Without a doubt, this will remain Mayele’s remarkable season of his football career based on the achievements he has so far gained.
