Tourism minister airbornes to boost industry

ZANZIBAR: IN a bid to attract more tourists to Zanzibar, the Minister for Tourism and Heritage, Mr Mudrik Ramadhan Soraga, participated in a skydiving event in Unguja North to promote the exciting activity.
“We have much more to offer to our visitors beyond traditional beaches and historical sites. We need to think outside the box and introduce new attractions, like skydiving, to further enhance our tourism industry,” Mr Soraga said.
Mr Soraga soared above Kendwa Rocks in Nungwi, a popular destination for tourists. He highlighted that the exhilarating experience of parachuting demonstrates that Zanzibar has much more to offer than just beautiful beaches and activities like scuba diving and kite surfing.

Under the slogan “We Promote Tourism in Action,” the Minister advocated for the promotion of skydiving as a way to attract more international tourists.
“Skydiving is an exhilarating experience that requires courage. Today, we ascended to ten thousand feet and enjoyed a breathtaking descent, floating and taking in the beauty of Zanzibar for about 15 minutes,” Mr Soraga explained.
He encouraged both international visitors and locals to embrace the culture of exploring tourist attractions and participating in thrilling events, assuring them, “They will not regret it.”
The Minister expressed gratitude to Sky-Dive Venture Zanzibar, led by Director Gary Lincoln, for their innovative efforts to promote Zanzibar’s tourism on an international scale.
Mr Lincoln noted that skydiving has been operating in Zanzibar for four years without major challenges and customer satisfaction remains high. “We welcome guests from around the world, including locals from mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar and provide training for first-time flyers,” he said.
Mr Gideon Mugusi, the company’s Quality Control Manager, confirmed that all activities adhere to the guidelines set by the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA).
